Ozeki Sushi - Chatswood, Sydney

On a weekend shopping trip to Chatswood, I came across this new sushi train situated just outside Chatswood Chase.  Despite my undying loyalty to Makoto, it's always good to try new things, especially when it involves a special of $3 a plate!

They have a list to write down your name and take a number, but it wasn't quite full anyway when we went on a Saturday afternoon

The cute menu - non-sushi items weren't that plentiful, but then again, most people go to a sushi train for the sushi!

Salmon Nigiri - servings are generous with sizeable pieces of fresh salmon

Tempura - this would have been nicer if it hadn't been sitting there for a while, it was slightly cold and soft. I did enjoy the sauce though.

Green tea soba - this was really refreshing since it was such a hot day.

Kingfish Aburi - this was great, very tasty and generous serves too!

These scallops were massive, and they generally have their aburi dishes made to order, as I didn't spot many on the sushi train

Overall it was a good experience, and to try something different other than eating at Makoto all the time.  They had a few different dishes, and it worked out to be quite cheap with the $3 dishes.  For 2 people, it only came to $37!  And I stuffed myself so much that I ended up passing on dinner.

What's in my bag?

Cleaned out my bag that I usually use for work and realise just how much junk I collect through the week - things that interest me in the newspaper, train tickets, bus tickets, crumbs, you name it...

My 'going out' bag is much more cleaner and organised though. This could be due to the fact that I can't actually fit much in there!

My bag & it's contents - phone, red pockets, Myer giftcard, work key, home key, lipgloss & wallet

I've since spent the red pockets (as you do!)

The best lipgloss - and the best thing about it is that it was a freebie from a magazine! I love it though cos it's such a pretty nude colour with a hint of pink, so glossy, and non-sticky! It's Benefit Her glossiness. Awesome.

My embarassingly 'asian' blinged up phone, I like it though!

With icons to boot!

Canberra Eats - Koko Black, Cakes & Home Cooking!

Every trip I take back home is a frantic rush to stuff my face with everything I love there (not that I'm deprived of good food here in Sydney or anything! Actually quite the opposite)
Some of the things I ate on my last trip:
Fab looking ice tea from Koko Black- I actually had more pics of the food, but my iPhone decided to have a mind of it's own and delete most of my pics. I thought I'd grab a refreshing drink to wash down all the rich chocolately goodness, and it was good! Lots of strawberry pieces, hint of lemon and lime and fresh mint.

My mum went to The Flute Bakery earlier this time because they had already sold out some cakes last time, so of course had to take pre-emptive action:
I didn't actually buy them so I'm unsure of the names. I know the top one is a berry cheesecake, middle is some sort of coffee flavoured mousse, and the bottom one is white, milk and dark chocolate mousse

The one on the left was my favourite- I loved the mini chocolate blocks, SO CUTE! The biscuit layer was so crunchy and delish, not sure what it was made out of, but tasted like a mixture of wafers and biscuits, followed by layers of yummy white chocolate and milk chocolate mousse.

Mini chocolate block decorations!!

Hazelnut mousse

And of course, some lovely cooking from home:
Stuffed capsicum ready to go in the oven - chicken filling with corn and peas

Cheesy-ness - could have done with a bit more cheese, but my cheese sprinkling skills failed.

Here are my latest Pandora charm purchases:

Valentine's Day purchase - love the pink flower and shimmer

Another Valentine's Day purchase - purple heart

And my purchases from Friday night, 2 charms that I've had my eye on for a while:

Heart padlock with key

My bracelet so far - will probably be my last purchases for a while as it's getting to be a very costly habit for me!

I love how everyone has different stories that come with their bracelets and charms though, whether they are presents from loved ones. There's always a unique story of where they got it from, which I think is great.

Cheap fashion thrills

Oh my god. I think I got a little bit too excited after discovering Portmans at DFO were having this MASSIVE sale. Most things were $5 or $10! I bought a whole bag of clothes which only ended up totalling $50. Crazy.

The only thing is. the stock that was left were all massive sizes, but I ended up buying them anyway since my mum can alter them. Everything I bought was $10 or under.

Blush blazer - originally $199.95 down to $10

Cute embroidery detail top with frills on the sleeves

Love the colour of this dress!

Knot racer back

Blush top with frills

This was way too big - I was swimming in it, but alterations are in progress!

Pretty colour

Another top that was way too big but I had to have anyway!

Love the pretty flower details on the side

I also picked up this scarf for the princely sum of $1

It was an awesome shopping day, and my bank balance didn't suffer for once!

Emilio's Ocean Grill - Manuka, Canberra

It was a gorgeously sunny day on Saturday and I couldn't believe how blue the sky was. It was beautiful!

I woke up bright and early to catch the coach down to Canberra, along with a whole bunch of earlybirds making their way to Canberra for the Masterpieces of Paris exhibition.

Scenery on the way to Canberra

I didn't have breakfast, so was quite hungry by the time I got there! Manuka was our destination, and on our way to our intended eating place, we spied this new restaurant on the main strip and decided to try it instead.

I'm not sure when this restaurant opened, but everything seemed quite new. I liked the quirky fish decorations and painting.

The lunch menu

Lemon lime & bitters

The restaurant wasn't quite full even on a Saturday lunch, but I think it's due to the fact that it's new. I saw a lot of people walk past and check out the menu, which indicates so.

Prawn Cocktail

Yummy salad with big juicy prawns, avocado, smoked salmon and salad

Seafood basket - deep fried goodness with scallops, fish, prawns and squid with loads of chips! Check out the cute fish dish for the tartare sauce! I only wish there was more sauce...

Seafood display out the front

Lobster mornay is on my hit list for next time! I saw the table next to us order one, and it looked great!
