Mail arrival - Sretsis pieces & Outfit of the day

I received my super quick delivery from Vanity Flair yesterday, after ordering some Sretsis skirts from the Make My Heart Melt collection (now on sale)

Most of the really beautiful pieces have long sold out, but there are still some gems to be found. I settled on these 2 gorgeous skirts that I've had my eye on for a while.

Floral Chambray mini skirt

How pretty is the floral detailing at the hem?

Flora mini skirt in the peach colourway

So excited and cannot wait to wear them!

Here's a little outfit of the day shot, from yesterday - a lazy day, where I had the day off for a dentist visit & the lovely lunch at Artespresso

I'm back to work today, ho hum!

Leisurely weekday lunch @ Artespresso - Kingston, Canberra

There's nothing better than having a nice, relaxing lunch on a day off, whilst most people are at work. Especially on a Monday! (YAY for an extra long weekend)

After today's dentist trip, a detour to Kingston was made, and we settled on Artespresso for a late lunch

Since we were quite late, the restaurant was empty, bar a few tables finishing up (we arrived at 1:45pm and they close at 2:00pm!)

Decisions were made quickly due to grumbling stomachs:

Angus scotch fillet

With horseradish cream

Artespresso seafood pie with champagne cream

I really enjoyed this one, with the flaky and crispy pastry, and packed full of seafood & lovely creamy sauce

Sadly there was no time for dessert, as it was past closing time when we finished our mains, but I'll be back next time for the souffle!

Made with love

As promised, my new homemade coat made with the lovely lilac wool, bought the other week:
Cute bubble hem & it's very warm!

From the back

Slight obsession with bows

Cute kitty lining, and bows again!

Paired with an Alannah Hill flower I picked up for $10

And my new headband... after seeing this post, I've come to the realisation that I own too many bow items *oops*

The Gallery Tea Lounge - Sheraton on the Park, Sydney

Whilst partaking in high tea, one thing I always wish for is more savouries, as it is always sweetness overload.  Which is what brings me to the Gallery Tea Lounge at Sheraton on the Park, as they have a Contemporary Stand for afternoon tea, where you can choose your own offerings. Perfect!

We pop in at 11:30am, and it's quiet, which is a nice change from some of the other busier venues. I tried to book a table earlier during the week, but they said it wasn't necessary for 2 people.

The afternoon tea options - they also have the traditional stand and a buffet later on during the day, starting at 1:00pm

My drink of choice - Max Brenner hot chocolate

Firstly, the metal frame stand comes out, and the plates too, one by one

Savouries - I love that you can order the dishes, as it means you can control the sweet/savoury ratio, and the savoury options were quite interesting! This selection included:

Tea smoked duck & shitake salad in a crispy filo basket
Mushroom, goats cheese and spinach wraped in a Bretague pancake roll
Sandwiches - Ham & pineapple on brown, Egg mayonnaise and cress on white

Double servings of:

Deep sea scallop with green tea jelly
Open Tasmanian smoked salmon sandwich with prawn salad

Sweets selection (excuse the bad shot, it was hard to get to!)

Cappuccino mousse and biscotti
Baklava with assorted nuts and honey
Boysenberry tarlet with crumble and vanilla icecream
Chocolate bon bons

Affogato with tiramisu icecream

Pretty boysenberry tart with icecream - love the purple sprinkles!

Summit Restaurant - Australia Square, Sydney

Looking for a special venue for an early birthday dinner celebration, Summit was a last minute choice. In hindsight, I should have took more notice of the reviews, as they were quite spot on - food was not amazing, service was bordering on non-existent on a not so busy night.

I'm not meaning to give a terrible review, but when the meal is within a certain price point, you expect a bit more... but my experience was underwhelming, to say the least. Guess it's all about the pretty view?

And boy, it was a nice view!

Menu - they have a $79 deal for 2 courses, either starter + main, or main + dessert

Ruby Sunset cocktail - described as a fruity blend of fresh mango & pineapple, along with white run & mango liqueur with a splash of jam. This was basically a smoothie, with the slightest hint of alcohol

I tried not to fill up on bread, but failed miserably, most of that lovely butter was slathered on & hogged by me

Amuse Bouche - this was a creamy chestnut and mushroom soup, probably not an accurate description of it, but that's all I remember of it - was quite nice

My starter - lobster & yamba prawn naked ravioli mariscos - lobster, balmain bug, prawn, claypot tomato estofade, calamari, lemon, parsley, the calamari was really tender, but on the whole, it wasn't anything to write home about

3 hour braised black angus beef cheek

oyster blade “raviolinni”, durum wheat egg pasta, candied garlic, root vegetables, hunter shiraz glaze & butter - the meat was fall apart tender, and the glaze was packed with flavour, so much so that side dishes are a must with this dish, otherwise it ends up being a bit too much

Sirloin on the bone - can't comment on this dish, as it wasn't mine & I didn't try any, but it appeared to be quite tasty

Hand cut chips - I love potato, so this was a winner, and a very welcome accompaniment to my beef cheek

Condiments with the steak - I used them for dipping my chips, classy!

Dessert time

Desserts saved the day!

Dark caramel & hazelnut semifreddo, scorched orange caramel, orange salad & brown sugar glass biscuits - loved the semifreddo & the orange salad was great - zesty and sweet

Hot chocolate souffle (their signature dish) with dark chocolate sauce & hazelnut praline cream

I think the main thing was the service that I had an issue with. It wasn't particularly busy, but everything took ages, and my table was mostly ignored. We sat there with empty dishes, on more than one occasion, whilst waitstaff walked past and were quite attentive to the tables next to us.

We received our coffee with dessert, and sugar was noone in sight. It was almost impossible to get the attention of staff, since for some unknown reason, we were mostly avoided.

I enjoyed the view though, that and dessert, was the highlight of the night.  I'd probably be back, but not for the Summit Restaurant, but to try out the tapas at the Orbit Bar.

Ulta3 Lollypop Lilac

Here is another Ulta3 post, and I still have what feels like a million more to try out! This one is the lovely named Lollypop Lilac.

It looked nice enough in the bottle, a shimmery foil with a hint of lilac through it

It looks gorgeous on, major wow factor!

Excuse the chunky fingers - the colour actually looks lighter in real life than on my camera

On Ramen - Haymarket, Sydney

On Ramen is a little hole in the wall type restaurant that sells the usual cheap and cheerful Japanese dishes - as the name suggests, ramen is their focus

The menu - they also have a mini takeaway version of their menu, in flyer form, which I think is great

Le picture menu

Quite alot of things to choose from - decisions, decisions!

Ramune - Japanese lemonade

Chicken katsu curry - this hit the spot, but you can't really go wrong with Japanese curry, sweet sauce with potatoes, onion and carrot, and deep fried chicken goodness

Chicken karaage ramen

Side dishes that come with the set - salad & sashimi

More side dishes - takoyaki & mini sausages

Ramen set

A great place for a quick and decent feed - will be back to try the other dishes soon!
