The Lobby - The Peninsula, Hong Kong

A visit to Hong Kong isn't complete without a visit to Afternoon Tea at the world famous The Peninsula hotel

Opened in 1928, it is easily one of the most internationally renowned hotels, with a large fleet of Rolls Royce and having appeared in James Bond films and 'The Dark Knight', it is definitely a must visit.

Luxurious old world feel

We arrived at around 3pm, and the afternoon started at 2pm.  As there is a no bookings policy, there was (and always seems to be) a line, though it moved quite quickly and we didn't wait very long.

The Lobby menu with afternoon tea and other choices

Silver teapots - I would have preferred more fancy teapots and cups, but that's just my personal girly preference

Eagerly awaiting our tea and tier

Peach tea

Our lovely tier of goodies - sweets on the top, sandwiches & savouries in the middle and scones on the bottom

The raisin scones were lovely and warm with a decent serving of jam and cream, this plate also had a delicious crispy, puff pastry type finger as well

Raisin scones

The sandwiches and tarlet were great too

And now for the plate that I was eyeing off as soon as the tier arrived - sweets!

Including a mini portugese tart, macarons, passionfruit tarlet and cakes - yum!

According to a show I watched, apparently their silverware has a certain amount of history around it and gets polished on a very regular basis.

Lily - You should definitely pay a visit next time in HK. Which night market were you trying to find?

Rita - I had an inkling that there'd be history to the silverwear, lots of effort must go into polishing because the silverwear was all flawless!

soph - It was a treat! (And a wonderful break from shopping and the heat)
