Belated birthday lunch @ Watersedge - Parkes, Canberra

So today I had a small birthday lunch at Watersedge, which I was quite excited to try. Opened in 2004, it is one of Canberra's well known restaurants and part of the trio including Courgette and Sabayon.

I finally got around to wearing my new polka dot Alannah Hill skirt <3

The weather was glorious and we had beautiful views of the lake and the War Memorial

Amuse bouche - Peking duck consomme

Atlantic salmon with seared scallops served with crushed potato, pea puree and beurre blanc sauce

This was very good - you definitely cannot go wrong with salmon and scallops!

Snapper served with ratatouille, courgette flower filled with Lobster mousseline and Nero sauce

Pre-dessert - peach sorbet, this was fantastic and made me so keen for the desserts to come

Cherry souffle with sour cherry jus served with coconut sorbet

The sour cherry jus was brought out in a little jug and was poured in the souffle at the table. The coconut sorbet was amazing! Jam packed full of coconut flavour - actually all their sorbets were amazingly good!

Peanut butter mousse served with milk sorbet, chocolate jelly, peanut brittle and peanut butter foam

This was a fun take on peanut butter, the mousse was very rich (imagine digging a spoon into a jar of peanut butter!) but was perfect when paired with the milk sorbet and the rest of the elements on the dish. Loved this!

A much needed coffee completes a leisurely lunch

Petit fours - cute little lemon meringue tarts

I loved Watersedge and will definitely be back.  The service was friendly and impeccable, and they are also open for lunch on the weekend which is a bonus, as I find most fine-dining places tend to not open for lunch.
