Urban Pantry - Manuka, Canberra

It was such a beautiful weekend in Canberra, freezing to start off with, but its been really lovely and sunny during the days.

For my last day here, it was off to Urban Pantry in Manuka for lunch.

I love that they literally have a pantry with all kinds of goodies for sale - I ended up buying some Tea Drop Lavender grey tea, that I've been looking for.

Their menu - I'm keen to go back for their Urban Bites menu, served after 3:00pm, with tapas like dishes like crispy pork belly, prawn skewers and all other kinds of yummy sounding things! Will report back later.

I had this totally delicious strawberry smoothie.

Pork cutlet with parsnip puree, relish and broccolini from the specials board

Risotto with king prawns, asparagus, saffron and fennel - this was delicious and perfect for the cold Canberra winter!

Bits and Pieces - Zara, Leopard Print & New purchases!

Hello! Hope you're all having a great Easter break.

It's been a busy and random week, and now I'm down in Canberra for the Easter break. Relaxing.

The cooler weather means I'm pulling out the tights - love these cute Alannah Hill heart print ones!

I bought these snakeskin flats from Sambag last weekend

They are so comfy! No need to wear them in, I wore them for the first time last weekend, and I did a lap around Brighton Le Sands with no issues. Awesome!

I picked up the free Shop Til you Drop polish from Kit Cosmetics. Looks pretty, haven't tried it out yet

Went to the Sass & Bide sale - picked up this t-shirt, well it's so big, you could technically wear it as a dress!

I like the lace detailing. I also impulse bought some PVC rats for $10, probably will not like them though. Damn me and my impulse purchasing.

Leopard is everywhere lately - I bought this cardi from one of the shops in the QVB

And of course.... Zara opened! I was one of the crazy people that went on Wednesday. It wasn't too bad - the line was only 10 minutes to get in at the front entrance, but it was quite crowded, and messy inside.

My Zara purchases:

Leather dress

I also bought a black pleated skirt and navy leggings. V. happy with my purchases! Can't wait to have a proper look when it dies down. Prices are reasonable and stock looked pretty good, from what I saw!

Kagawa Japanese Restaurant- Dickson & Max Brenner - Belconnen, Canberra

So I arrived in Canberra tonight for the Easter break, and it's freezing! I don't expect anything less in Canberra. I rugged up in 4 layers and scarf, so was relatively nice and toasty.

Anyway, dinner was at Kagawa Japanese restaurant in Dickson.  It looks like it's changed hands since the last time I visited, and serves more authentic Japanese food now which is good.

Picture menu goodness

I had a apple shochu to warm up, very effective!

Seafood noodle udon

Salmon flower roll

Tempura banana with green tea ice cream - I liked how you could choose the ice cream flavour, I automatically gravitated toward green tea (they didn't have black sesame)

And later on during the night, I visted the newly opened Max Brenner in Belconnen with my bestie (such exciting news for Canberra, we are finally getting good stores!! YAY)

Chocolate truffle

My choice - chocolate souffle (it's really a fondant IMO, not a souffle) with ice cream, sooo good and just perfect for the freezing weather.

White chocolate mocha

We were all chocolate-d out by the end!

Pho Minh - Cabramatta, Sydney

So I posted about how much I like Cabramatta the other week.  The main reason is because there is so much cheap and tasty food!

On this particular morning, we venture to Pho Minh - I've been there a few times before and the staff are always very friendly and the food is good.

I'm sure you can tell what I've ordered just from this alone...

Pho of course! I love Pho, especially on a cold day or when you have a cold, it's the best!

It's Friday!

Oh weekend, how I've been waiting for you to come around.

Cannot wait to get my feast on

And drink on - like this strawberry and lychee Caprioska

The Cross

For gelato of course!

OPI Teenage Dream from the Katy Perry collection. Sparkly!

Speaking of sparkle - cupcakes! Salted caramel and lavender + honey

Roast dinner from Eat Deli Kitchen, now called Reuben and Moore. Why the name change?

Blue skies

It was such beautiful weather last week. It felt like summer! I even pulled out the shorts from my wardrobe. I went for a wander around Circular Quay (ice cream was mandatory of course!)

Easter goodies from Just William on William Street in Paddington - I'll be back for you easter eggs!

Bought the sweetest pineapple from the fruit shop in Paddington - I'm still craving it now!

Had a look in Colette and found some more pretty shiny things:

Pearl headband - this one actually looks decent on me because the pearls are smaller! yay!

Butterfly ring

These were all 50% off except for the headband, so they worked out to only be a couple of $ each. Bargain!

The Sydney Morning Herald Grower's Market

This was the first time I've actually made the effort to get up early and go to the Sydney Morning Herald Grower's Market.  Boy, I'm so glad I did! Best market ever.

I'd heard about it a few years ago, back when the Good Food Month first started - I was still living in Canberra then, but since it's only on until 11am, it was a struggle for me to wake up back then, now I'm usually up at 6:30am (damn you full time work and body clock!)

The skies looked gloomy but held back the rain.  I actually got there pretty late, around 10am, but it was still very busy. There were so many stalls to explore, it's definitely like a bigger and better outdoors Eveleigh markets, shame that it is only on once a month.

I bought a few things from Kei's Kitchen - including the almond miso and teriyaki sauce - which has inspired me to do a bit more cooking at home

Bought a bag of the most delicious unwaxed gala apples from this stall

Also bought a few pastries:

Almond croissant

Apple galette

Almond and pear tart

And the best banana bread ever! I brought it in for morning tea at work and everyone loved it! The guy manning the stall was so friendly too, and very generous with the samples. Actually, everyone was super friendly and helpful which was great.

I also bought some super fresh salad mix and Poacher's Pantry ham which sorted out my lunch for a few days.

I'm having market withdrawals now. It's a bit depressing going back to dreary supermarket produce.
