The Devonshire - Surry Hills, Sydney

This was definitely a memorable night with the lovely girls vxdollface (+ bf) sugarpuffi & idreaminchoc - previous dinner plans did not work out as our mission to Porteno was aborted when we saw the massive line snaking outside the door when we drove past just after 6pm.

What happened next was a frantic blur of searching on iphones for a place to eat, and what felt like a million 'we are fully booked' phone calls, until we magically got a call back from The Devonshire. It was meant to be!

The a-la-carte menu, we went for the degustation option

Salt fish brandade with house made grissini - this dip was amazingly good

Bread with salted butter and honey butter... both were really good, I loved the honey butter!

Confit pear and onion tart fine, gorgonzola and wild rocket

Scallop, squid, celeriac, pomegranate and golden raisins

Bonito, katchumba salad, pakoras, curry sauce and rice foam

This was the alternative dish to the rabbit ravilo - potato gnocchi with pine mushrooms, parmesan and peas

Macleay valley rabbit raviolo, pine mushrooms, tarragon and spinach

Bangalow pork loin and shoulder, pumpkin, prunes and apple

Pineapple pudding, ice cream and soup

Bittersweet chocolate pave, chocolate sorbet and chocolate ice cream

My favourite dish would probably have to be the pork or scallop (though the tart was amazing too!) I found the curry sauce in the bonito to be quite overpowering, and didn't really match well with everything else. Other than that, I really enjoyed all the dishes, and I think the degustation here is excellent value for what you get. 

I'll definitely be back for the devonshire creme brulee! I was eyeing it off the a-la-carte menu but unfortunately it wasn't part of the degustation.
