Crystal Jade is an extremely popular and you can find a queue outside the doors at most times of the day. It specialises in xiao long bao and noodle dishes, as the name suggests.
At the entrance, a lady issues you with a ticket and you wait until your number is called. We were relatively early and "only" waited around 15 minutes or so.
Extensive picture menu helps to decipher the more interesting sounding dishes.
Shichuan dan dan la mian- tasty handmade noodles in a spicy peanut, sesame broth
Pork jelly Zhenjiang style - interesting texture, the name says it all - it was very jelly like. Wasn't a fan! It was too weird for me.
Shallot pancake - This was very nice, flaky and tasty pastry, a bit like roti
Rice cakes with sweet and sour sauce - This was a fun dish, you take a bit of the sauce in your bowl (which included bits of seafood etc) and dip the crunchy rice cakes into it (they were a bit like rice bubbles!)
Mushroom and bean curd roll
Salted egg yolk prawns - this is the dish shown on the front of their menu so it must be good! It didn't disappoint, though I only managed to have a few pieces as it is quite filling.
A fried noodle dish
Red bean puffs
Whilst the food was decent, I'm not sure that it's worth the wait with so many other awesome options around!
