LL Wine and Dine - Potts Point, Sydney

Enticed by the recent reviews and blog posts, I made my way to LL Wine and Dine in Potts Point last Saturday for a leisurely weekend lunch.

We pretty much had the place to ourselves, and chose to sit outside since it was a relatively nice day

First things first... the cocktail list!

Hong Kong Island Ice Tea - Built with the 5 whites, topped with lychee and lemon juice then finished with ginger beer. Loved this version of the long island, and quite a lot of the other cocktails sound great too, so can't wait to go back and try them.

Grilled Hokkaido scallops topped with cauliflower foam served with salmon caviar and XO sauce flavoured squid ink gnocchi

These were some of the biggest and juiciest scallops I'd ever come across, which was a sign of things to come...

Pork belly buns - cooked in traditional Hakka Granny's way served with crushed peanuts, coriander and chilli sauce

And hidden in this little steamer...

Were the buns, ready to be stuffed with pork belly goodness!

My overflowing bun. I loved these so much, they were so tasty!

And then onto mains:

Singaporean jumbo king prawn curry - with capsicum, broccoli and sugar snap served with fritter dipping sicks

When I saw this, I knew we'd over ordered, it was HUGE! The serving was very generous, and in the curry were the biggest prawns I've ever seen in my whole life:

Humungous prawn - it was so hard to pick them up with the chopsticks because they were so heavy!

Steamed rice to soak up all that wonderful curry

Braised beef cheek served with smoked bacon and sweet potato mash, sugar snap, carrot and garlic-soy jus

This was a great dish too, the meat was fall apart tender and anything that includes mash is always good.

Sadly, after all this, I didn't have any room to try dessert *gasp*... I'll be back for you though!

Ceci Korean Restaurant - Strathfield, Sydney

It's officially feeling like Winter again. The only thing that is good about Winter is being able to enjoy Korean BBQs and hotpots and all that clever layering and coats hides the overindulgence too which is a much needed bonus!

My method for choosing a restaurant to dine at in Strathfield was to see which one had the most people. So off to Ceci it was, as the lines were overflowing on a Saturday night. It was a short wait for a table, so we got a number and went for a wander.

I obviously do not have the willpower to walk into a cute Korean store, and not come out with totally useless trinkets:

Butterfly hair tie

Earrings

Nail stickers

And this adorable bunny!

Anyway, back to the food:

The menu plastered on the wall outside gives you something to drool over while you wait

The shop is quite tiny and seating is very squashed, I think the aim is to try and fit as many tables and seats as possible in what little space they have

Marinated beef - not sure if this is standard procedure, but the waiter proceeded to throw all the beef on the BBQ for us? Most places I've been to just let you DIY at your own pace.

Beefy goodness

Side dishes - Some unidentifiable jelly like dish and potato

Kimchi

Melbourne purchases take two

I know, I know! I'm lagging behind with the Melbourne posts, but this is pretty much the last of it.

There were many awesome bargains at DFO to be had, it seemed like perfect timing as there were sales galore, but by the end of each day, I was all shopped out and literally could not be bothered to try on anything...

I did manage to buy these before I lost interest:

From Portmans

Lace back dress in blush

And these 2 cute skirts from Portmans as well:

Peter Alexander had 60% off but they had all crummy stuff at Moorabbin which was disappointing, but then we went to South Wharf the next day and I picked up heaps of stuff:

PA Haul

Bunny!!

Pyjama set

With all special looking bunnies :P

Sausage dog pyjama set

Comes with this cute frilly top

Paris nightie <3 love this!

And bought this this day wear top with black lace detail on the sleeves

Sweet things @ Via Del Corso - Westfield Sydney

I've only heard good things about Makmak macarons so I had to give them a go on my last trip to Via Del Corso at Westfield Sydney food court on level 5.

Pretty macarons

My sweet fix for the weekend - tarts and Makmak macarons

Raspberry yoghurt

Strawberry Shortcake - burnt butter buttercream with a fresh burst of strawberry jelly

Pavlova - Summery coconut ice with a passionfruit mango jelly centre

Salted Caramel

Stack

I had a craving for something tangy so I bought this lemon tart, it was OK, but it wasn't as tart or citrusy as I was expecting (this might be because my tastebuds are out of whack due to being sick though...)

Coconut and pineapple tart

New camera lens - which one to choose?

So I've had my camera for a few years now (bought my Canon 450D back in 2008!) and so far I've only managed to buy the EF 50mm F1.8 II in addition to the twin lens kit that originally came with the camera.

I need some recommendations on some new lens to play with!

Wide angle lens?

Or macro... for those close up shots

Or something a bit more multi-purpose?

Canon EF-S 17-85mm f4-5.6 IS USM

I mainly take pics of food, fashion, close ups of objects etc but also like to take my camera away when I travel, so something multi-purpose would be great too. Hmmm, so many choices!

Please send any recommendations for new camera lenses my way :)
