It's hard to keep on top of all the new restaurants in cafes that seem to be popping up in Canberra. After picking up a copy of the Canberra Weekly, a freebie magazine, I was drawn to a feature on Ricardo's Cafe, mainly due to their gorgeous looking cakes.
Ricardo's is located in Jamison, which used to be a bit of a dive, but has been refurbished and looks pretty slick as of late.
Pretty cakes on display
I came here for lunch on a Saturday afternoon and it was quite busy. The cafe itself is pretty casual - grab a table, have a look at the menu, go up to the counter to order and they give you a table number.

Mango and berry smoothie - my only complaint was that this smoothie was quite heavy on the yoghurt, making it very thick, without enough fruit to balance it out.
Parmesan truffle fries - so crispy and delicious, with just the right hint of truffle.
Wagyu truffle sliders - so cute and delicious!
White truffle wagyu beef with red wine caramelised onions, truffle aioli, and gruyere cheese
Despite having a hard time choosing from all the beautiful cakes on offer, I couldn't go past this adorable apple cheesecake. Cracking into the inside revealed a surprise of some kind of apple and cinnamon filling.

Those slides do look delicious. And I too wouldn't have been able to leave without trying such a cute looking dessert - love how they presented it!
Tina - The sliders and dessert were delicious!
