Ananas Bar & Brasserie - The Rocks, Sydney

Ananas is the new restaurant on the block in the Argyle Exchange at the Rocks, bringing a touch of French to Sydney, the perfect venue for a date night.

king prawn cocktail

A modern and fresh take on the classic

Scallops with black pudding, apple marmalade and lobster jus

Scallops are my must-order entree, and these juicy morsels were paired well with the rich discs of black pudding.

braised beef cheek, cumin carrots and truffle mashed potato

I had dish envy when this came out. Tender, fall-apart beef with the ultimate comfort food - mashed potato.

Black cod, squid and saffron risotto

The cod was perfectly cooked, though I thought the saffron risotto missed the mark, without much of a saffron flavour, and did not pair well with the fish.

Snickers

Basically a deconstructed version of the chocolate bar namesake. A delicious and very decadent dessert.

Ananas four ways with coconut mousse

Absolutely loved this dessert, with such lovely tropical flavours. Will definitely be back another time to try out more of the dishes.

All the food looks great especially the beef cheeks with mash! I have heard a lot of great things about Ananas (especially the signature pineapple dessert). Might need to check it out for the $35 deal during the Sydney Film Festival.
