Pablo & Rusty's - Sydney CBD

Pablo & Rusty's have a shiny new store in the Sydney CBD. As their name suggests, the focus is on great coffee. First starting out as a coffee bean supplier, and opening their first store front in Gordon, Pablo & Rusty's has now expanded to the city.

We visit on the weekend for some breakfast. The cafe is a perfect weekend brunching spot - good location, and bright and spacious.

Balsamic and rosemary roasted field mushrooms with whey & rye sourdough with persian feta

Thoroughly enjoyed my roasted field mushrooms. Simple and fresh flavours, with the balsamic providing a good level of zing. The feta was incredibly creamy.

Ham & cheese croissant

Unfortunately, this is where it all fell apart. After I received my mushroom dish, we waited a good 10 minutes, wondering when the croissant was going to come. For a cafe that was not that busy, the service was lacking. After enquiring about it, it appeared that the order had actually been forgotten and we could clearly see the open plan kitchen quickly try and put one together, only for it to be missed (again) and we had to ask again. The waitress did not really seem to care.

So overall, thumbs up for the coffee and I really enjoyed the mushrooms, but I don't think I'd be rushing back due to the service. Scanning the reviews on Urbanspoon seem to praise the great service, so maybe we went on an off day - definitely a spot I'd keep in mind to grab a great coffee though.

The mushroom sounds lush. Such a pity that service was a letdown.

Both dishes look delicious! Perhaps some early teething problems with service...

Agree, might have just been an off day with the service. The mushies were fab!
