John Montagu - Woolloomooloo, Sydney

If it's a great quality sandwich you're after, John Montagu is the place to go. Situated in Woolloomooloo, it's named after the inventor of the sandwich. I've been here several times for breakfast, and have really enjoyed my meals here.

It's a simple menu, they stick to a few basics, done well. There's not much in the way of non-sandwich options, not quite so good for those avoiding carbs. Perfecto if you're after a hearty and indulgent hangover meal.

Iced chocolate

The coffee is decent, and the cold drinks are served in the ever popular jam jars.

Chocolate brownie

We spot some baked goodies, and order a brownie to have after the meal. It's rich, so best shared between friends.

Bacon & egg roll

Maffra cheese & sage toastie with ham

This is my go-to order - cannot go past the thick, crusty slabs of bread sandwiching copious amounts of melted cheese, paired with sage and ham. Delicious!

House cured salmon, dill, avocado and cream cheese on rye. Salmon and avocado, a match made in heaven.

A great little spot to get your sandwich on!
