Nomad - Surry Hills, Sydney

After having my birthday lunch here at Nomad, and subsequent re-visits, it's definitely made it to my list of favourite restaurants. With a huge and inviting warehouse space, it's the perfect spot to grab a glass of vino and some pretty spectacular food to dine on.

The staff are absolutely lovely and are more than happy to share their enthusiastic recommendations on what to order. It's all about share dishes here, and the staff will give guidance on how much to order so that everyone gets a taste - especially important for some items which are a bit tricky to split. 

Scallops with cauliflower puree, lardo, anchovy

Perfectly cooked scallops, sitting on a bed of creamy cauliflower puree. Love.

Goats cheese churros with truffle honey

These freshly fried churros, paired with sweet truffle honey goats cheese are extremely addictive. Even though I'm a super sweet tooth, I would take Nomad's churros over the dessert version any day!

BBQ wagyu tongue, mojo verde

The super tender beef tongue had a lovely charred flavour. 

Nomad Jersey milk haloumi, BBQ zucchini, pinenuts, raisins

One of my favourite dishes, I've ordered this during every visit to Nomad. Can't really go wrong with a huge disc of delicious haloumi!

Wood roasted pork, charred cabbage, sweet potato 

Cheddar gratin

Such a great comfort food dish - hearty slices of pork, crisp pork crackling and a side of sinfully creamy gratin. 

And then onto the desserts...

Pedro Ximinez magnum

Good things come in small packages - this is the perfect dessert for when you are close to bursting but still would like something sweet. Don't be deceived by the small size though, this little magnum is quite rich and decadent. 

Bunuelos with cardamon cream

The  bunuelos (doughnuts) come out fresh and warm. Though nothing special by itself, the doughnuts are fantastic when paired with the fragrant cardamon cream. 

Highly recommend Nomad for the amazing food and extensive wine list, in a great venue with superb service.

The mini magnum is such a cute idea, and I am a big fan of the milk haloumi - I bet the bbq zucchini went perfectly with it :D
Definitely want to try Nomad now! *bucket list grows*
